    Our clients is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and talented Managing Director for our to take a leading role in their Financial Sponsor investment banking practice. This professional will have strong marketing skills and a broad network, as his/her primary responsibility will be new business development, including lead generation, relationship management and initiation of investment banking engagements. Supported by our experienced investment banking professionals, our managing director will be able to leverage his/her experience, network and industry specialties to generate high quality middle market transactions for the firm. This position represents a significant career and economic opportunity for the right individual.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct business development activities to identify, source and introduce potential clients for M&A and capital raising assignments
    • Participate in the preparation of materials describing the business, market positioning and financial condition of clients
    • Identify potential buyers and investors that might be interested in a client’s business and participate in contacting these entities on behalf of the clients
    • Develop a network of contacts in relevant fields that will assist the Firm in finding new client and expanding relationships with potential investors
    • Supervise and mentor staff members

    Requirements

    • Consistently generate $3M+ in M&A Fees per year
    • Ten years of experience conducting advisory related projects
    • Graduate degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited college/university and/or relevant professional designation
    • Securities registrations preferred, Series 7, 79, 63 and/or 24
    • Exceptional analytical and quantitative background skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, solid research skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment and/or independently
    • Ability to find and contact potential clients, with ability to build (or utilize existing) extensive network of potential clients and referral sources
    • Entrepreneurial / desire to succeed
    • Initiative – must be a self-starter, able to work independently with drive and motivation
    • Expertise in a particular industry is not required, but can be leveraged for success
    • Prior experience in investment banking and/or knowledge of the process and client expectations
    • Positive personality – should be additive to the office – intelligence and sense of humor

    Summary of Position

    The role will support the Investment Banking Equity Capital Markets.   Responsibilities to include the following:

    • Transaction execution, new business presentations and meetings, and other such duties
    • Working with Associates and Analysts in development of pitch books and related client materials
    • Developing client relationships, developing business opportunities, transaction execution and other such duties
    • Coordinating with Industry, Product and other groups to evaluate and originate new business ideas/opportunities

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will possess the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree and MBA, MA, or MS or equivalent emphasis in finance/accounting
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in Investment Banking, of which at least 3 are in the Equity Capital Markets space
    • Solid understanding of capital markets and spreadsheet modeling
    • Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accounting
    • Highly motivated with a demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests
    • Proficiency with personal computers and standard productivity applications
    • Ability to take initiative and function independently balanced with strong teaming skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
    • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct, demonstrate ability to represent company in community and industry activities
    • Series 79 and Series 63 licenses

    Summary of Position

    The Diversified Industrials Group Associate is typically involved in developing analysis for marketing investment banking services and executing transactions, and has developed the experience to function as a number two person on some financing or advisory transactions. The Associate handles some client meetings on matters related to a financing, but does not typically lead meetings involving key client personnel. The Associate has some background in structuring transactions. The Associate reports to a Senior Vice President or Managing Director. 

    Description of Responsibilities

    • Assists senior members of group by analyzing prospective clients for potential advisory and capital raising business through the use of financial modeling.  Displays creativity in dealing with assignments
    • Generates respect and confidence of clients.  Relates well with clients and establishes good working relationships.  Is an effective representative of the firm
    • Knowledgeable in one or more banking coverage and/or product areas and applies this knowledge to meet team objectives.  Actively seeks to increase knowledge
    • As a member of the banking team assigned to a transaction, works closely with senior team members to complete due diligence, prepare all paperwork required by the SEC and produce other written materials
    • Assists with the preparation of materials for road show presentations.  May attend and participate in road show presentations
    • Utilizes junior team members and support staff effectively.  Assists with the training and development of junior team members
    • Consistently contributes to firm recruitment, development of junior personnel and projects designed to benefit the firm community

    Qualifications

    • Understanding of relevant financial, mathematical and accounting principles.  Ability to analyze data and contribute to the definition of problems and creative solutions
    • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate the most substantive issues clearly and concisely
    • Investment Banking experience in the Diversified Industrials sector preferred
      Proven proficiency in utilizing spreadsheets, presentation software and the Internet
    • Ability to work in team atmosphere with other professionals and administrative staff
    • Series 79 and 63 license
    • MBA and 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
